Greek Turkey Burgers

If this isn't the best turkey burger you've ever had, then take me to the best one. I won't believe it until I taste it. This burger is hella good.




Ground beef is too darn expensive.


Seriously! I do not want to spend $12 on maybe 4 low-quality, not even butcher shop, organic, or local ground beef! So instead, I'm getting my roughly $1.50 frozen 1lb ground turkey from......


ALDI!


Yeah, that was no surprise at this point. 99.999% of all my food seems to come from Aldi, and that is fine by me!


The thing I love about turkey burgers is that you're almost encouraged to add as many toppings to the patty itself as you physically can. It makes the flavor explode!



I have learned over the years that when adding vegetables to things like patties, meatballs, and meatloaves, that chopping vegetables smaller often creates a more satisfying product. It falls apart less, the taste is more consistent throughout, and the mouth-feel is more appealing. What you see below would be about the largest size for vegetables I use for patties.



Another thing I love about making turkey burgers is how little I need to clean up (I should really say how little Cody needs to clean up hehe)! There's a knife to clean, a cutting board, a bowl, a spatula, and a sheet pan. Compared to most of my meals, this one is a piece of cake to clean up.



Don't be too concerned that the mixture feels delicate or too wet. Turkey burgers are notorious for being dry, so if the patty is harder to shape because of its moisture level that's what we call a good problem. Plus, baking these bad boys will help them to retain their nice patty shape. Pan-frying or grilling can cause the burgers to break apart. As you can see from the after photo, the burgers do get nicely browned, just like they would if they were pan-fried or grilled.

Greek Turkey Burger


Ingredients:

1 lbs Ground Turkey

1-4 Cloves of Garlic, Minced (measure this amount with your heart)

1/2 Onion, Thinly Chopped

1 Handful of Spinach, Roughly Chopped

1/4 Cup Almond Flour*

1/4 Cup Garbanzo Bean Flour*

1 Sprinkle of Feta

2 Quartered Artichoke Hearts, Chopped

5 Kalamata Olives, Chopped

1 Egg

Oregano

Thyme

Garlic Powder

Onion Powder

Salt

Pepper

Olive oil


Directions:


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.


Begin by sauteing the chopped onion and minced garlic until the onion is translucent. Then add the spinach and cook until it has wilted. Let cool for a few minutes.


Put all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Form into patties (1lb of turkey will make roughly 8 patties) and set on a lined baking tray.


Cook in the oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping once.


Plate up and enjoy!


**The flour can easily be substituted for breadcrumbs, start by adding 1/4c and then adding more if needed**
